Elkamet, a rotational moulder that primarily serves the automotive sector, is expanding its manufacturing plant in East Flat Rock, North Carolina, US.

The company announced 18 November that it plans to invest $6.5m (€6.13m) over the next three years, and add 25 workers.

Elkamet is the US unit of Elkamet Kunstofftechnik, a family-owned company based in Biedenkopf, Germany. The company makes rotomolded parts including hydraulic oil tanks, as well as extruded products, like windshield profiles.

The East Flat Rock plant is the company’s only facility outside Europe. It opened in 2007 and employs 108. Customers include Ford, Volkswagen, and Caterpillar.

The state is assisting the expansion through a $35,000 (€33,000) grant from the One North Carolina Fund.

The plant also expanded in 2014.

“The growth Elkamet has experienced over the last five years is certainly due, in part, to the local support we continue to receive from the Henderson County Partnership for Economic Development, the State of North Carolina and the qualified pool of those seeking employment from which we pull to build our fine team,” said Brent Coston, Elkamet’s plant manager. “Having been born and raised in Henderson County, it is great to be a part of something that will benefit the people of this county.”
